New Music This month, we’ll be continuing to feature your favorite trockers with the release of their new CD’s! We’ll be playing new music by Mark Mulligan, Dennis Davis, Captain Josh, Loren Davidson, Rob Mehl, John Reno, Mike “Hollow Man” Miller and many more!!! TropStock in the Village The BeachFront Krewe was proud to be a part of the 1st annual TropStock in the Village in Cocoa Village, FL….and what a time we had! The venue was on the Indian River and featured a huge grassy area with a state of the art stage. For 3 days, the elite entertainment graced the stage entertaining a crowd of nearly 4,000. Entertainers included Tropical Motivation, Jack Mosley, Jim Morris and the Big Bamboo Band, John Frinzi, Captain Josh, John Friday, Homemade Wine, John Patti, Pyrates of the Coast, Jimi Pappas, Parrot Island Band, Coco Loco, Scott Kirby, and featured Coral Reefers, Peter Mayer, Nadirah Shakoor, Doyle Grisham, and Jim Mayer. The Peter Mayer Group rocked the stage on Saturday night and Nadirah Shakoor & Outside Art put on an unbelievable performance on Sunday evening. Sunday morning started out with an ecumenical service performed by Bry Harris of the Parrot Island Band and featured songs sung by Jack Mosley, John Frinzi, The Peter Mayer Group, and Nadirah Shakoor. The most moving performance came from Nadirah Shakoor and Peter Mayer as they performed a new song Peter had written called “Without Love.” It was a special treat for all in attendance as it was the first time ever performed. Besides the phenomenal entertainment, there was plenty to do including a large vendor area, local restaurant booths, volleyball tournament, a boat show, a scavenger hunt, a pub crawl, and KidStock, a special portion of the show featuring Lee Romano and Uncle Jim Mayer. Even DJ Jeff and the Pyrate Girls participated in the “wiggling” and hula hooping with the kids! TropStock was run by an amazing team of people including Lee Romano of Tropical Motivation, Patti Romano, Robyn Greene, and so many more! It was a wonder that they were even standing at the end of the weekend! A portion of the proceeds benefitted the Rachel Nates Breath of Hope Foundation which was formed to continue the goals and aspirations of 28 year old Rachel Nates who lost her battle with lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) in 2008. An extremely touching video was shown highlighting the battles Rachel went through before she passed away, and her husband, Brian was at TropStock working tirelessly to make a successful event. The BeachFront Krewe sold raffle tickets for a fantastic cooler filled with CD’s, t-shirts, a BeachFront pole caddy, a BeachFront bag, and a slew of other items topped off with an autographed Peter Mayer shirt. We also debuted the new men’s t-shirts and women’s tanks along with the new backpacks! You can only get these at TropStock and Meeting of the Minds for now!!! We also spread the BeachFront word by handing out tons of koozies featuring BeachFront Radio and Living Like a Pirate, Gary Seiler, Jimmy and the Parrots, and Don Middlebrook. We’d like to give a very special thank you to our friend, Taz, who never left the BeachFront booth so he could spread the BeachFront word (well, and babysit Cheeto Gyrl)! At the end of each night, there were several after-parties around the Village which featured Mike Miller, Homemade Wine, John Friday, Captain Nick, and the Jimi Pappas show (which ended up featuring special guests Jim Morris, John Frinzi, Captain Josh, and John Patti…even the BeachFront Krewe played with DJ Jeff on cowbell, Capt’n Cali on the shaker, and Cheeto Gyrl on kazoo)!
